Network DVD has announced the Blu-ray release of Space:1999 Year 1 on 11th October this year.

Space 1999 - The Complete First Series will be released as an 8-disc set with an RRP of £79.99. There is no news yet as to the special features to be included in the set, but the very fact that the series is finally available in High Definition will be music to fans' ears.

Starring Martin Landau, Barbara Bain and Barry Morse, the series charts the adventures of Moonbase Alpha as it hurtles through space after a nuclear waste dump on the moon unexpectedly detonates.

Last year Network produced a Blu-ray version of the newly colourised Fireball XL5 episode, A Day in the Life of a Space General, while Blu-ray releases of the (Robin Praed) Robin of Sherwood series and 2 Space Patrol episodes are also imminent.
