Fanderson was saddened to learn of the death of Thunderbirds special effects artist Ian Scoones.
Working alongside Brian Johncock and Shaun Whittacker-Cooke, Scoones was a second unit director under Derek Meddings on Thunderbirds.
He was also well known for his work on Hammer films (She, Frankenstein Created Woman and Quatermass and the Pit, among many others), Blake's 7 and Doctor Who. He was an uncredited special effects assistant on the very first Doctor Who episode, An Unearthly Child, and later went on to work on a number of classic seventies stories including The Pyramids of Mars and The City of Death. In 1980 he provided effects for 13 episodes of the Hammer House of Horror TV series, and later worked on Max Headroom (1985), as well as several further films such as 1984 and Haunted Honeymoon.
He retired to Spain in the mid 1990s, and finally to Bulgaria.
He will be sadly missed.
