Default Tony Barwick / Donald James.

As what would have been Tony Barwick's 83rd birthday approaches; I had absolutely no idea that these novels were available on Kindle!

Shadow of the Wolf

The Hangman's Crusade

The Kremlin Contract

I will also admit, with no small amount of shame, that my copy of 'Shadow...' (which was given to me by Tony), went unread until it was finally given away about 20 years ago. I really must make an effort to buy all of these books and read them, as I have no doubt they are good.

I'd be interested in giving one of these a go if they're still in print - though I have to admit Tony's script-editing on Scarlet is not his finest hour IMO!

Apparently, Tony wrote one chapter, then Donald wrote the next and so on (obviously based upon a synopsis!). It seems a strange way to do it, but it obviously worked. The books seemed to have sold quite well and got some pretty decent reviews. Having just read bits and pieces from 'Shadow of the Wolf' on the Amazon 'look inside' feature, it seems pretty good. I have to wonder if it's possible to tell which chapter was written by which?!

Once I've got around to buying a kindle, I might well invest the modest sum and buy these books. The new cover designs are quite effective and contemporary. It's good to know that they are still in print thirty or forty years after they were first published. There's another one - 'Devil at the Crossroads' which I don't think is available in downloadable form.

Shane Rimmer's recent novel, 'Long Shot', was based upon the unpublished novel he co-wrote with Tony called 'Dog-leg'.
