I must admit to not being a fan of 'fan-fiction' at all, it's very difficult to get it right. I think I read something once about Melody Angel having a period and I nearly threw up, so I politely just stay away. BUT...if you're being sent hate mail on here then please report it, it's not on!

However Lightcudder, you shouldn't let others' idiotic tactlessness stop you from doing something that gives you satisfaction. I believe that personal satisfaction comes first and if others like it too then that's a bonus! (and remember - Gerry always did this!).

I think if you went to the convention you'd be more likely to find a shared interest with the people there and it seems you have made some friends on here that are going too. You should go!

On a side note I remember marvelling at Eric Bernard's Space:2099 (his updating of the series using CGI) and talking to someone about it, then got a very abrupt email from a 'die-hard' fan about how it was such a waste of time. It's always difficult to please fans when introducing them to a new angle of a character or a series, but my view is that whatever happens...we still have to original to look at. So if people don't like it then simply just stay away. Certainly no need for rudeness, which is such a big niggle I have about these forums!

thanks Achilles - Not the mail is not from here! You are all too sensible for that! The emails I get are on a personal level from a group of so-called fanfiction writers. I don't bother to read them now but its too late. I have cancelled my registration for the con. I'll keep in touch on this site though!! I get a tremendous amount of pleasure from the Fanderson Forum! Thanks!

That's a great shame as most of these people would'nt have the balls to look you in the eye if they met you in person . I'm always amazed how tough people are when hiding behind a view screen . Hope you change your mind , best wishes .

I feel very humble that so many people have been supportive. If my registration is still valid I'll come - and I'm sure I will not regret it! I owe several of you a drink at the bar!! (hold me to that!)
