I cant remember at this time I'm afraid. I would've been able to tell you which "update" that I put it in but I neglected to make backups of the original independent update archives. (sounds are still available) Maybe when I get time, I'll consider finding some kind of way of uploading the sounds onto Mediafire on a per sound basis. It'd save users having to download loads of archives just to get a specific set of sounds.

On another note, some of the sounds have made their way into todays DLC trailer for Alien - Isolation: :O

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18023lL0ynQ

Klaxon Vol/Type 1 stretches it legs once again along with the Radar beeping sound from Goldfinger and even "Alarms and beeps\Beeps\Beep.wav".

It's so cool being able to spot these little blasts from the past (that's actually more literal than I intended ) ! I'll have to go to the library or something and just do the whole batch at some point. Thanks anyway!

Also, slightly unrelated note: I'm not sure whether Fireman Sam or it's close sister series Joshua Jones ever used Cinesound, but what ever they used is now a LOT easier to source: A mate of mine in Australia found two - yes, TWO - glitched DVDs of Joshua Jones where the vocals are all panned 100% left whilst the soundtrack (and importantly, the SFX!) are sill center panned as normal. He's kindly uploading them onto his Youtube channel, just set the panning on your settings to 100% right (or disconnect your left speaker) and simply bathe in the awesome, crystal-clear rarity: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwxf43lvzwQ It might be of use to you, I honestly don't know.

I've just noticed that most of "vehicles part 5" through "part 8" are duplicates, except each part has successively more in the "prop" folder. Also, every time I've downloaded one of packs there's always one file - just one - that comes out corrupted. After noting that each .rar folder is always exactly 100mb before decompression, I think the last file in each folder has been "cropped" during conversion and is therefore garbage-code. Sorry to be the barer of bad news mate. :-) The rest are fine though, it's brilliant being able to hear these in such clarity!

EDIT AGAIN the last vehicles file (part 19) is completely empty apart from the last two folders (Trains and UFO), and there are no duplicates in the previous parts. What really gets me is that one of these "ghost" folders was the TUGS one. Could you please try and fix this?

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Should've done this a long time ago really but what I'll do now is upload the sounds individually onto Mediafire whilst retaining the directory tree. It'll save individuals downloading loads of archives if they just want specific sounds in the set. I have uploaded the Tugs sounds first so you can have a look at them. Go into Vehicles and then just follow the folder tree and you'll find the wavs in there.

https://www.mediafire.com/folder/sb1...ds/Cinesound_2

The rest of the library will be forthcoming in this format.

Thanks man! I'll upload a youtube Vid' with some of my own TUGS SFX and some fixes to yours. (the coastguard's whistle is Bluenoses' sped up not Sunshine's!) Also, there's a guy who managed to rip the episodes at 44100HZ without any static, so you can get some high quality rips off his uploads: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...YQj22Ow8jxP_Uc

In fact, here's what I've figured out so far: (starting from slowest speed SFX is played at, -> means sped up, = means same speed)

Top Hat -> Little Ditcher
Top Hat's Foghorn -> Lillie Lightship -> Shrimper ('Sunshine')
Zip -> O.J.
Zebedee -> Zug
Izzy Gomez -> Sunshine -> Grampus
Mighty Mo = Johnny Cuba -> Warrior
The Goods Train -> Puffa
Opening Sequence Whistle -> Zak -> Bluenose ('Munitions') -> Bluenose ('Regatta') = The Fultan Ferry = Sea Rogue's Uncle -> The Coastguard = The Coastguard's Messenger
Ten Cents -> Shrimpers ('Warrior') [Partial match]
Big Mac
Fire Chief (siren)
Fire Chief (horn)
Zorran
Billy Shoepack (low) -> Hercules = Sea Rogue ->Billy Shoepack (high)
The Three Liners (The Duchess, Princess Alice, and S.S. Vienna) all share the same horn.

Also, I suspect that the people doing the actual SFX mixing used a pitch-wheel to blend some of the sounds, judging by the way Billy Shoepack, Warrior, and sometimes Ten Cent's whistle trails off. Some whistles are also cut off whilst others have an extended lead-up to the body, even though they have the same base SFX (the Coastguard's Messenger whistle compared to that from the Opening Sequence whistle for example).

Hope this helps!

Max

Smile Mediafire collection now public and Update 11 now public

I have finished uploading the library in its entirety to Mediafire.

https://www.mediafire.com/folder/sb1...ds/Cinesound_2

I've now uploaded it in a way so that one can only download the sounds that they want without having to spend ages downloading many archives. Another upside to this is you can also preview a sound before downloading it if you wish. Apparently if you have a pro account on mediafire, you can also do batch downloading. I can't test this myself so don't know how it works. The Rapidshare links are finally dead now so the link on the first post to those has been removed. Due to the price increase, they will not be returning to Rapidshare. :P

I have also finalised update 11 which is available here. I will merge update 11 with the rest of the online collection in due course.

Many thanks to bladez for providing a flawless version of the Countryside ambience from Thomas the Tank Engine.

With the recent release of Alien Isolation, I took it upon myself to bust open the sound files to have a look inside the game having heard some familar sounds in the gameplay/trailer videos. The sound files are in the same format as Rome Total War 2 (BNK/WEM) which made extracting them easy. What I found was most surpising.

Beep.wav as it appears in the Cinesound collection
http://i.imgur.com/Wun54QL.png

The next example however showcases it best as both sounds share the exact same imperfections with regards to the clicks and the sound frequencies which I have highlighted.

Another really good example here which shows the exact same patterns of upper audio frequency artifacts.

Spooky Computer loop.wav also shows the same frequency flaws particularly on the 2nd drone.

Some of the other beeps/clicks/alarm sounds I've come across appear to share the exact same imperfections like compression artifacts and missing frequencies from where I had to previously clean them of background hiss ect.

With this in mind, I think I can prove beyond any shadow of doubt that Creative Assembly have made use of some of the sound files within this collection

Previously posted this in the wrong thread. (deleted and now put in right place) Only took me 20+ days to realize this :P

Hey guys, been a while since I updated this. I got a newsletter email from Sounddogs a couple of weeks ago stating that they had added a new sound effects library called Soundelux/Todd-AO. I had a look at it and was most thrilled to find many of the explosions from Cinesound within it!

Go to this link to access Sounddogs beta site to access new sound effects:
https://soundeffects.sounddogs.com/sfx/

Search for soundelux explosion and you can audit the explosion sound effects.

So far, I've found the master recordings for the big explosion from Dr No which also has different variants and takes which I had no idea even existed, one of the variants of Explosion Type 10, several master recordings for Explosion Type 7 and many more types of explosion. I've also found the master sound recording of the pistol sound mainly used in the James Bond films (Yay!)

Ricochets
Guns Military | Bys Riccos || Ricos - Various ( Optical )
Miscellaneous || Riccos - Variations With Optical Hiss

Explosions

Explosions Fires || Explosion; Bomb Whistle & Explo-Distorted, Nsg - The bomb whistle sound used in just about every WW2 film from the 60s/80's.

Explosions Fires || Explosion; Small Explos-Distorted-Nsg as used in The Living Daylights.

Explosions Fires || Explosion; Rolling Explo-Like Thunder contains the huge explosion from Dr No along with several different sounds that appear to be elements that the sound was constructed from.

Explosions Fires || Explosion; Multi Explos, Nsg contains another variant of the huge explosion from Dr No which I believe was used at the beginning of Goldfinger.

Explosions Fires || Explosion; Big Explos, Nsg - Notably used in Tugs : Munitions, Aliens (1985) and Goldeneye. After the tailoff of the explosion, you can hear what appears to be very faint talking!

Explosions Fires || Explosion; Big Explos, Nsg - Notably used in Aliens (1985) and some WW2 Navy battle scene that I can't remember right now...

Explosions Fires || Explosion; Big Explo With Debris-Distorted. Nsg - Sure I've heard this stitched onto something else...

Explosions Fires || Explosion; Big Bomb Explo With Long Decay - Think this was used in The Living Daylights (1987)

Explotions || Heavy Explosion Optical Hiss Muffled Explosion - Used in just about every war film. You'll know it when you hear it.

Miscellaneous || Explos - Two Takes ( Loops ) ( Optical ) - Another distinct explosion. First variant heard in Goldeneye and an assortment of other things...

Loud Crack Explosions

Explosions Fires || Explosion; Small Explos-Distorted-Nsg - Notably used in Aliens (1985) and some WW2 films.

Explosions Fires || Explosion; Smaller Explosion With Debris-Distorted. Nsg - I believe this was used in The spy who loved me.

Explosion Type 7 Variants

Explosions Fires || Explosion; Big Explo-Distorted. Nsg (listed twice with different variant)
Explosions Fires || Explosion; Big Explo With Debris-Distorted. Nsg
Explosions Fires || Explosion; Various Large Explosion With Rumble
Explosions Fires || Explosion; Various Big Bomb Like Explosions, Near And Far, ( Many Takes )
Explosions Fires || Explosion; Various Large Bomb Type Explos

Explosion Type 10 Variants
Explosions Fires || Explosion; Big Cannon Shot Explodes-Distortes. Nsg - Print quality on this is unfortunately very hissy. I know the HQ master for this must still exist as this is the only variant on here.

Loud Crack Type 2 variants

Explosions Fires || Explosion; Big Bomb Explo With Long Decay - As heard in A Bridge too far and Tugs. Unfortunately, this seems to be the only variant on there.

Guns

A Machinegun variant used in some of the Bond films can be found under the name of:
Guns || Browning 50; Various Bursts With Magazine Replacement-Hissy - Machine Gun Fire

The Pistol sound used in the gunbarrel for Dr No and used throughout the years can be found under the name of:
"Guns || Rifle Fire; Singles With Reverb-Hissy"

The Machine Gun sound used in the intro for Captain Scarlet can be found under the name of:
"Machines || Machine Gun Burst; Medium Bursts-Hissy"

The James Bond pistol sound can be found under the name of:
"Explosions Fires || Pistol Fire. Sharp Cracks With Decay. Very Hissy. Fair - Shot"

Explosions Fires || Fire Fight; Several Guns Fire Sporaticaly-Hissy. Fair - Heard in a couple of things.

Explosions Fires || Pistol Fire. Colt Pistol Fire With Decay. Watch Bird Chirps. Very Hissy. Fair - Shots - Used in loads of stuff. You'll know it when you hear it.

Guns || Anti-Aircraft Guns; Fires-Hissy, Nsg
Guns || Anti-Aircraft Guns; Fires-Distorted, Nsg - I do believe a variant of these was used in UFO where a lorry was firing spherical mines into a lake.

Cars and Planes

The engine sputtering sound often used on plane engines in trouble can be found under the name of:
"Cars Vehicles || Engine Sputter; Optical Hiss & Pops. Nsg" - This one really does show its age with the amount of hiss/pops on the recording. It sounds far superior to the version I got from the Thunderbirds episode though. It does need a bit of editing and stitching together to make it sound like the variant usually used in Thunderbirds/WW2 films.

Thunder

Rain Thunder || Thunder; Thundercrack Like Laser Fire. Nsg - Used in just about every fantasy film from the 70s-80s. You'll know it when you hear it.

Rain Thunders | Thunders || Thunder Claps Someone Says Optical Noise Could Be Used As Rain, Various Ntg - Crack Roll Storm

Search for nsg or optical and you can find more vintage sounds from that era.
Given how many explosions are in there plus the inclusion of the pistol sound, I'm convinced that this library contains more vintage sound effects. If you have a look through it and find anything relevant, can you post what you searched for in the thread please and perhaps the name of the sound as it appears on the website please. Remember that you'll need to goto Sounddogs new website.
