I was just thinking what a wonderful array of voice artistes have graced Gerry's productions over the years.

I think Fanderson should create a new Voice Artiste Guide so that we can all see who's who (like the location guide).

I have to say that the voice of Troy Tempest, Don Mason, wins 'hands down' for me.

They say that the voice is the second most important thing when it comes to people's perception of you. If I had Don Mason's voice I could have ruled the world!

Here is my top 10 (in order) and I would like to hear yours:

1. Don Mason (Troy Tempest)
2. Ray Barrett (Titan, Commander Shore, the Hood but more particularly for his numerous supporting characters. For me, Ray Barrett WAS the voice of Thunderbirds.)
3. Paul Maxwell (Steve Zodiac, Captain Grey, etc)
4. David Graham (Parker, Dr Beaker, supporting cast)
5. David Healy (Shane Weston, Lunar Controller, Dr Groot, supporting cast)
6. Ed Bishop (Captain Blue, Ed Straker)
7. Rupert Davies (Professor McLaine)
8. Nigel Plaskitt (Captain Black in NCS)
9. Jeremy Hitchen (Tiger Ninestein, It-Star, Xander Story)
10. Ben Stevens (Stew Dapples, Yung-Star)

Updated: How could I forget David Healy who now replaces Stanley Unwin and comes in at No.5. Sorry about that, Father Unwin!

I see that all my choices are male but I would like to mention Sylvia Anderson's Lady Penelope whose voice I used to find very alluring!

Incidentally, if anyone has a photo of Don Mason I would love to see what he looks like. Apparently, he looked nothing like Troy but until I see proof that is how I will see him.:)

My top ten:

1 David Graham (Professor Matthew Matic, Gordon Tracy, Kyrano, Brains, Zoony & Mitch the Monkey)
2 Francis Matthews (Most famous as the indestructible Captain Scarlet)
3 Donald Gray (Colonel White, The Voice of The Mysterons, Captain Black)
4 Ray Barrett
5 Shane Rimmer (Scott Tracy & various from Thunderbirds and later series)
6 Paul Maxwell
7 Jeremy Wilkin (various voices from Thunderbirds through to The Secret Service)
8 David Holliday (Virgil Tracy & various in the first 26 Thunderbirds episodes)
9 Stanley Unwin
10 Kenneth Connor (various voices in Torchy The Battery Boy & Four Feather Falls)

I placed David Graham at no.1 because he could do such a wide range of voices and animal imitations! Such a talented man. A genius.
I'd like to see a pic of Don Mason as well, Conrad. He's the only Gerry Anderson voice artist I've never found on a Google image search.

My personal favourite is Ray Barrett and that is solely for his voicing of Duke Dexter and the Duchess of Royston.

Interesting poll. Mine would have to be...

1. Ray Barrett (Duchess of Royston!!!)
2. David Graham (Parker - "The new world hair-craft corporation")
3. Shane Rimmer
4. Peter Dynely
5. David Holliday
6. Don Mason
7. Paul Maxwell
8. Denise Bryer (ZELDA!!!)
9. Windsor Davies (born a sgt. major!)
10. Donald Gray (how did he get his voice that deep!)

That's in some sort of order I think. I picked 3-7 because they had such interesting voices.

As for Don Mason I did some research and found very little. He doesn't seem to have had many film and TV roles. Troy was certainly his most well-known and biggest. He may have been in theatre a lot.

Most memorable has to be Francis Matthews as Captain Scarlet - his voice (albeit his 'cheap' Cary Grant impression as we later discovered) was iconic as the indestructible superhero. However, most admirable just has to be David Graham with his amazing range and career longevity with Anderson - a most remarkable fellow...

For me, it was Paul Maxwell. I really lliked him as Steve Zodiac, and it was like a game picking him out of the latter Thunderbirds episodes and in Captain Scarlett. He was also a good actor. Who can forget him as Panama Hat or the guy in Aliens telling Ripley that there was no danger to the crew he sent to the Alien planet.

Paul Maxwell as Steve Zodiac. There’s a tongue-in-cheek way he delivers those lines sometimes. You get the impression it must have been great fun to do.
Ed Bishop as Captain Blue. Very close second! Just perfect.
Ray Barrett Not to take anything away from his more familiar characters, but I don’t think I could ever forget him channeling Dame Edith Evans when he voiced Deborah, Duchess of Royston in The Duchess Assignment.
