Can someone expalin what the "Battery Boy" and other names under the username is please...

Its just a basic 'ranking' status, the more replies you respond to or new threads you start increase your post count, and then your 'rank' increases.

The forum admin have created and set these 'ranks' to reflect something in the worlds of Gerry Anderson.

Great answer Tony! The first set of ranks I put up were based on getting something from every GA show but not any of the major characters.

That explains it! When "Battery Boy" appeared under my name, I thought it referred to my age - I'm old enough to remember watching Torchy (and Twizzle) first time 'round!

Ranks are a fun part of the forum, nothing serious like on some forum's I have been on and its interesting to see what rank pops up next Its also cool that the admin are adding in nice little touches that keep us grounded in the Gerry Anderson universe.

I would have thought that it would be just the admin, as they will be ones the one setting the ranks.

There are different ranks set right up to 400 posts at the moment. I could tell what they are and what patterns they are following (if any) but it might spoil the fun.

Needless to say that to get to a major character like Virgil Tracy or Ed Straker - I would expect someone to have posted in the thousands!

I have to confess, whilst at work this morning, i spent some considerable time listing the ranking system so far. Its very entertaining, and i've compiled a list of ranks so far. Shall i share what i have so far, and see if we can work out the blanks?

AND maybe someone could explain some of the names of the ranks and where they originate from? Some of them, such as Too Tall Tim Johnson, i have no idea!? Anyone?

Too Tall Tim Johnson is a former basketball player squashed to a height of two feet by a falling elevator (not car). He has a brother called Tall Tim 2 who is very tall from the Gerry Anderson series......

The thing is that a few of us can see what rank will be next by watching members with a slightly higher post count. I have been aware of the last 6 or 7 ranks by watching Silent Bob and Picasso61.

Yes you are correct, however if you have seen the character in the series you may realise that he is not well liked, so don't worry too much if the ardent Space 1999 fans round here ignore you until the 'rank' changes again. :p

It's a pity Simmonds didn't stay as a regular character. i think in the long term he could have become one of the most interesting characters on Alpha.
He's a true politician and a real human being. He says what he thinks, even it upsets others and shows him in a bad light. Plus he puts himself first alot of the time. There must have been other people on Alpha like him, wanting to go home.
I must admit to quite liking Commissioner Simmonds, definately one of the most human annd realistic people on Moonbase Alpha.
(Now ducks behind the wall and waits for the fallout)

Unpopular with the Alpha personnel to be sure, although he would have made a good recurring cast member, read the last post by Silent Bob.
