Ian Scoones, Effects Technician, RIP

I'm sad to report that Ian Scoones, part of Derek Meddings' Thunderbirds special effects team and a visual effects designer on such productions as Doctor Who, Blake's Seven, Max Headroom and Hammer House of Horror, is reported to have passed away at the end of January.

Very sad to hear this. I met Ian while researching the book '21st Century Visions' for Derek Meddings, and he was very enthusiastic and helpful. Having been trained by Les Bowie (like Derek) Ian knew so many ingenious tricks and techniques that enabled him to create effects on very limited budgets, which he often had to call on in his years working at the BBC on various productions, including Dr.Who. A wonderful character and very entertaining to be with. All the best Ian,
