View Full Version : Dealers at the TV21 convention

I am in the process of creating the registration form for Dealers at the convention i.e. the people who will take a table and sell merchandise. The next step will be to send it out to potential dealers.

This is where you can help...

What type of dealers would you like to see at the con?

What type of merchandise do you buy?

Do you have any suggestions of which dealers you would like to see there? If you let me have their names and / or contact details, I send them a form when it is ready.

Any suggestions would be welcome. Either post your views here or email me at katie@fanderson.org.uk

Many thanks for any help.

For me the most important thing I'd like to see in the Dealer's room is classic collectible material associated with the Anderson shows (emphasis on classic).

Far too often when I go to events the only things available are more recent items that I can buy at any local store.

I'm pleased that Anderson shows are popular and that I can walk into HMV and buy (for example) Thunderbirds etc. on DVD. But personally I don't want to see that kind of thing at a convention. Not because I don't want to get it, but because I can get it easily at any DVD store.

What I'd like to see are the old annuals, action figures, crafts etc. from the 60's, 70's and 80's.

So, for me at least, the more old collectibles the better. New stuff is fine but I know that's available so I'd save my money for stuff I can't see elsewhere.

I agree - I always buy classic stuff at conventions. I also like seeing the expensive models, both characters and craft - although to be fair to the dealers, I only like seeing - the prices are usually out of my range.

Yeah cheap would be good too :) but some items are so fantastic its great to just see them closeup even if I can't afford them.

In a bi of a contrast, seeing as New Captain Scarlet stuff is so hard to get noadays more so than the classic stuff it seems.

Sure is there any sort of list of dealers available.

Considering the reaction to them on the Eagle transporter website i take it Product Enterprise may not be on the list?

We agree with the others - we'd like to see classic stuff, rather than everyday items that have been overpriced because they can! Anyone selling anything along the lines of Japanese rare books (ie Town Mook) and Aoshima models would be fantastic.

Many thanks for your comments and please keep them coming :)

If anyone has particular dealers in minds, please drop me a line. The forms will be available soon.

When we have dealers signed up, we plan to post a list of them onto the con website. We are working on the con website at the moment and plan to launch it in the next few weeks.

Would still quite like to see Rober Harrop again with their figures . Even a talk about their company and their sculpting techniquies would be interesting .

Please invite Tony James and his friend Nigel of Comet Miniatures. He has a lot of great stuff and is also good for a laugh. I think it would be good to get all the dealers back from the last convention if they are still trading in Anderson merchandise and some new ones if there is the space.

Could Stephen La Riviere be given a table to sell his book? Firstly it is an excellent work and has contributions from many people working on the shows. The book is a further tribute to Gerry, Sylvia and the team at Century 21.

Product Enterprise (now with new name) would be interesting to be present with any new products and with any reachable(!) offers / or lottery items (Eagle launch pad - Scarlet figures - Interceptors...)
They concentrate in high priced items now an there is little chance that we (mortals) can afford such items.
It would be interesting attraction.
Terry.

I never really understood why Product Enterprises / Icon Replicas abandoned the £40 models. I know the price of plastic sky rocketed but surely they could have downsized the models and still come up with beautiful high quality models. What about a series of fine quality figures a few inches high. People would buy them. I hope they are at the Convention and I hope Mr. Walker gives some answers.

Why would anyone want Product Enterprise's Scarlet figures? They are terrible and very inaccurate. As mentioned above they should have stuck to the £40 models. Quality figures a few inches high? Roger Harrop has produced lots and very good they are too!

A good point Sir, but only of the large headed puppets. I was thinking along the lines of scarlet figures onwards, both puppet and live action.

I'll be quite happy if I can buy a small UFO to go in my car. (Number plate - UFO!) Searching everwhere for one but unsuccessful so far! Hope there will be one at the con!

The Konami UFO that came out a few years ago might be the one to look out for. It's a nice accurate model.

I e-mailed Robert Harrop about the convention and asked if they had been contacted and they said that they do not hold enough stock now to do a stand and they produced a run of one-off models and when they have all been sold that was it and as of this moment they dont plan to do any more runs

Hi Katie
I am an ebayer with an unusually large mount of stuff to sell ,I wonder if say 2 hours were designated for people to have a kind of swap meet
if this was the case I would bring a few boxes to the convention ,I must say I am looking forward to this convention enormously
changing the subject ,1 thing I missed was not seeing "The investigator " in 1 of the screening rooms in a past convention (I was probably in the dealers room)

Hi Larry,

I am sorry but we don't have enough programme rooms to set aside 2 hours for a swap meet, especially since we do have a dealers room at the con.

I'll pass the suggestion for the Investigator to the AV people.

Larry, why not book in as a dealer for the dealers room, I am sure you have sufficient stock for such an event and that your presence would be welcomed.

Granted, as I know to my cost, being in the dealers room means that you miss a fair old bit of the con, but hey you cannot have it both ways. Hence why I stopped attending the cons as a dealer at the last con in Coventry in 2002.

Hi Larry, yes I do remember you form the con in Borehamwood, ah yes I do fondly remember some of those dioramas, being as I sold far more than ever kept.

Mind you I have a couple of projects in the pipeline, Pen 3 for Stingray and the Skydiver secret sub base in UFO, both of these will be to display the PE die cast models.

Katie, I will send you a message regards display models being as Larry just reminded me.

I have my Stingray Terror Fish and X20 sub dioramas, the small Stingray vignette, the MEV and a couple of 1/6th scale figures if you want them again.

Most of those were taken to the last con in 2006, I will drop you a line with details.

That is possibly because we don't appear to have received an email from you about displaying models at the con, Phil. Please resend it to me at katie@fanderson.org.uk
