A 2002 interview with the original partner of Gerry Anderson.
He talks about his early relationship with Gerry Anderson and future programming with Roberta Leigh:

The interview is one of a host of extras from the now hard to get Network Space Patrol 6 DVD set.
It also includes the first and only surviving episode of The Adventures Of Twizzle.

Do you know that I actually have the network Space Patrol DVD box set, but I do not think that I ever got beyond watching anything beyond disc 3.

I think it's a great set Tony and although Space Patrol wasn't made by Gerry Anderson I think it's a classic series. You ought to watch the other three DVDs!:) There's some cracking extras on there and some rare programmes too. I thought this Arthur Provis interview should be included on here for his involvement with Gerry Anderson on Twizzle and Torchy The Battery Boy.

Or is it ? I found this among the IMDB Adventures of Twizzle user comments -

'I have probably seen almost every episodes of Twizzle on British television. Along with "The Woodentops", Twizzle was a great favorite of mine as a child. Over twenty years later, I spotted the tapes in a souk (open air market) in downtown Jeddah and bought several. It quickly became a big hit with my own children who watched the tapes for many years with their own childhood friends in the USA. Its an early animated story about a small boy who was always getting into scrapes with his various friends, and then getting out of them with his curious ability to be able to stretch his arms and legs to triple their normal length. I believe I still have around twenty episodes on Betamax video which I purchased in Saudi Arabia in around 1979, and as of last year they were still selling them. In this case, thank goodness they have no copyright laws!'

I've also heard that other Twizzle episodes are thought to survive, air terrainean. I wonder if any of those episodes on Betamax tape mentioned by that IMDB user will get transferred to DVD and released!
It would be interesting to see more of this early Gerry Anderson/Arthur Provis series.:)

Roberta Leigh's Space Patrol IMO has many similarities with Fireball XL5. The kids and their parents in 1963 must have felt really privileged to have all these classic puppet shows to watch on ITV with Stingray appearing for the first time the following year. No wonder there's such an interest in them now.

For those interested in what Arthur Provis and Roberta Leigh did next. Take a look at this gem from 1967. The unshown pilot for The Solarnauts. I dont think Gerry had to worry about the competition!!

http://rapidshare.com/files/287770459/Solarnauts.aviYep - The Solarnauts is a real gem, Silent Bob. A real pity it wasn't made into a full series. Paul Starr (with Edward Bishop voicing the character) is another classic show IMO and although as not as good as The Solarnauts or Space Patrol should have gone beyond the pilot stage.

It is interesting to see how Space Patrol was made, since it was no nowhere near the same budget as any Anderson Production (well maybe FFF)

SP is indeed a tad hard to get hold of now, even though it was re-released by Networkdvd in February 2010, at least it brought the prices down on amazon a bit (the old set was going for £230 at one time) so releasing it was now or never, I bought the repackaged DVD set in September for £45 IIRC. :)
