Just for fun lets write the script for the UFO movie. Rules are you can only contribute one sentence at a time but you can contribute again once somebody else has replied. Let's go -

Foster studied the lunar map and estimated 3 minutes to impact.

Foster studied the lunar map and estimated 3 minutes to impact.

The recent record sunspot activity had played havoc with both the Moonbase tracker systems, and SID, who was still out of action after being badly damaged during the solar storm.

Commander Straker, piloting a SHADO SPACE INTERCEPTOR, has launched with the two other SHADO SPACE INTERCEPTORS piloted by two other SHADO Pilots. He needs to make a visual inspection of the impending Lunar impact.

With just 40 seconds to go she suddenly thought: "What am I doing?!?! I'm out here on the lunar surface!!!" and quickly zipped her space suit back up, just in the nick of time.

A top speed over the lunar surface, Commander Straker piloting the lead SHADO SPACE INTERCEPTOR, flanked by the other two SHADO SPACE INTERCEPTORs, closes in on the soon to be lunar impact site...with twenty-one seconds to impact!

Straker looked at the screen again and sees...22 seconds...then 23 seconds ...24...as if time...were slowly...going backwards...but surely that's imposssible!

(Oooh, nice curve!)

As Straker picks up another shooting script, Freeman walks towards him with a knowing look in his eye which Straker immediately acknowledges with some foreboding: "Oh no, Alec - it's 'Work Experience Intake Day' again, isn't it..."

Straker awoke in a cold sweat, it was becoming clear to him that the nightmares were occuring on a more frequent basis now...it was time he had a disussion with Jackson about this.

Behind the Aliens helmets face plate Straker could clearly see the face of Dr Jackson, perhaps he was still dreaming or...

"Jackson" lunged at Straker, and there was a short, sharp stabbing pain in Straker's neck as the hypo needle entered his skin...As he fell into unconciousness, he heard Jackson's voice -"Steady now Commander, don't worry, it's going be alright"...

time passes...Straker open his eyes to see an unbelievable sight....

Straker was asleep in his office, as the last few days had been manic, due to an increase in the alien attacks on Earth...Paul Foster walked into the office, and gently shook Straker from his enforced nap - "Hey, Commander, are you Ok? Since your last check up from Jackson, after that incident on the moon regarding Conroy and that damn Alien rock, you just don't seem to be the same man."

Derek Eaton

Have a drink Paul and get me one while you are at it

Steve Gerard
8th December 2009, 02:42 PM
Straker ponders the situation. "So Paul what is on your mind?"

Derek Eaton
8th December 2009, 03:59 PM
There was something odd about the last Alien attack but I just can't put my finger on it.

Paul Foster's mind raced, Straker wanting a drink? - something was wrong, very wrong...

Had someone... or something... affected the SHADO coffee machines ?

Straker sighed..."OK Paul, I guess for the first time in many years, I'll join you in a drink- let's say, what? to friends and loved ones we've lost during the war?"

Steve Gerard
11th December 2009, 02:30 PM
Paul agrees,"Yes...and to this war's eventual end...sooner rather than later". Straker nods. They drink. Straker somberly opens a file, "Paul this is something you need to see."

It's a new logo for SHADO the last one was a bit 70s so I going for black on a sort of distressed battleship grey.

Foster rubbed his chin..."It's understated, and that's good...I always thought that the old logo was too prominent on our equipment - after all we are a top secret organisation!"

Steve Gerard
21st December 2009, 06:21 PM
Straker bitterly "I know...I told them from day one no names or logos on the vehicles or uniforms. Paul, the powers that be above my commander grade are finally going to remove them!"

could there bee a flyover scene whereby a visitor is introduced, by one of the Interceptor pilots, to the moonbase showing some of the early lunar landing sites, with maybe a futuristic twist, say with a Eurosec Dove or somthing? so this ties in with Doppleganger? (also a bit of a tribute- as most of the stuff in doppelganger turned up in the UFO series)

Straker bitterly "I know...I told them from day one no names or logos on the vehicles or uniforms. Paul, the powers that be above my commander grade are finally going to remove them!"

Suddenly the intercom beeped, Straker "Yes Ford?"

"We have a sighting commander, four UFO's speeding towards earth..."

They are on a direct course to attack the SHADO base under the dormant Volcano in Iceland!

"Quick" said Straker. "No time to lose. Release the ash."

Steve Gerard

Straker gives a a priority SHADO order to restrict all commercial airline travel in the region. This will allow a squadron of SHADO SKYs to destroy all incoming UFOs without any civilian witnesses.

If I was able to make a UFO movie I would probably weave the episodes IDENTIFIED and EXPOSED Together. I would also make the abductee from the beginning of Identified Paul Foster's Sister rarther than Leila Carlin... This would tie in with the " There's a BODY" which is found by Carlin after intercepting the UFO at the end of Identified.... Colonel Foster [ That's me !!] would do the shootdown in Sky1 and upon investigation it would be found that all of the internal organs would have come from Foster's sister.... Now that's BLEAK!

This thread has been jokey so far, which has been fun to read and contribute to. But there's no reason why it can't continue in a more serious vein with contributors saying how they'd really like to see the movie take shape. I personally have always considered the scene from the episode Michael Jayston was in (I think it's called Reflections In The Water or something like that) where the alien is standing by the trees looking at what's going on, while keeping himself hidden, and over it they're playing the music from the end credits, to sum up for me what UFO was all about. It stressed the suspense and mystery of the aliens perfectly for me, and I would like to see the movie made in that spirit, with it all being about the not knowing aspect. How utterly mysterious the aliens are, and the suspense that comes from all the not knowing what you're up against. I think it has the potrential to be a very dark mystery laden movie, as well as the perfect platform for excitement and action. A perfect combination of those two elements is what I'd aim for.
Anyone got any comments or ideas to add to this?

John, you are totally right. For me it was "The Square Triangle" when the gamekeeper is attacked by the Alien and his helmet visor is smashed releasing his breathing fluid....very scary especially at 6 years old. As I seem to recall, The Andersons decided as a cost measure to not give the Aliens a language or sets or any real explanation and this as you pointed out kept them always is the shado's [sic] This is also SO important in the proposed film....

I always liked the bit in Exposed where Straker seems quite happy to let Fosters plane be destroyed rather than allow a UFO through. It gives an indication of how serious the whole organisation is about keeping secret but also destroying the UFOs.
