watching captain scarlet, Ive always got a few questions but forget to ask them so thought Id start a thread that we could contribute our wonderings to.
so first one.
why in the first episode do the mysterons want to assasinate the world president then later change their mind and want him alive?
Always changing theyre mind and never forgetting past misunderstandings and not letting it go, where the mysterons female? :p ;)
sorry

I was wondering this too, maybe they wanted to reconstruct him instead though they had lots of time to do that.
They could very well be, the Mysteron complex does look like he bottom floor of House of Fraizer, maybe the deep manly voice is all a charade :S

Well, the one thing I don't understand is the Col White says that they would make another attempt on his life, yet it is established later in the series that if the Mysterons fail the first time, they don't try again (Surely after Capt Brown exploded, he should have been safe).
Just as well, as Spectrum can't protect every target forever.

Yes, the same thing happens in Model Spy - they threaten to kill someone, then kidnap him. Instead of killing him in the car, then they just dump him out of the car door. Personally, I don't try to understand the Mysterons in these episodes, IMO I put it down to the writers cocking up.
It's the same with Scarlet's 'sixth sense' - it's in Winged Assassin and Point 783 but forgotten about later - possibly because it limited the writers' options if Scarlet could sense an enemy every time.

Maybe the Mysterons thought he was a rubbish World President. And that by leaving him in office, he could cause more trouble than the Mysterons ever could manage!

True that puzzled me to, but as both Brown and Scarlet were killed together I guess the Mysterons can have two tries in that(and similar) episodes.

I wondered about that too and yet it was frequently used in TV21!

Didn't some chap, possibly in Point 783, say " Where's your sixth sense now EARTHMAN?" thus negating the use of Scarlets ability for the future....Obviously the Mysterons use Windows 7...learning computers!

Thats true, the same happens in point 783 with the 2 replicants, must be that the replicants are programed single mindedly, if they fail the mysterons wont bother making more.

I always got the feeling the John Tracy of Captain Scarlet was Captain Magenta or possibly Doctor Fawn. Neither had particualrly major roles overall.

one more question
should be an easy one but its always puzzled me.
which captain scarlet came back to life?was it the one which fell from the car view or the car crash.
Ive always believed it to be the car view, but looking at the car crash scarlet and when he is in the hospital bed at the end of the episode, he has a cut on his head and the bandage is in the same place later on.
would be pretty hard to survive intact falling that height but he was in one piece after the car crash

Since they talk about him being under Mysteron control and breaking the link it has to be the one which fell from the Car View. The other one was well and truly dead and was not indistructable.

I think part of it may be down to Sylvia being so busy with Thunderbird 6, then Joe 90 and Doppelganger - her attendance at voice recordings diminished quite rapidly post Thunderbirds.

Why bother going into the building ?
