Hi all,
Would anyone be able to confirm the existence of the three Joe 90 8mm film releases (Joe the Pilot, Secret Mission and Attack and Destroy) in Standard 8mm (as opposed to Super 8) format?
Thanks in advance

Ah, well this is where things get a little complicated to explain.
Bigrat.com is my main source of information for the Arrow Joe 90 films, but it quotes only one catalogue number for each of the titles. Previous Arrow releases of Thunderbirds had two catalogue numbers for each title, one for Standard 8 and one for Super 8. The advert pictured on the site doesn't mention dual formats, but the text claims that they were released in both formats.
As Standard 8 was a dead format by 1968, it is possible that Arrow had stopped releasing new films in the format by then.
I was going to mention all this in my original posting, but my works computer timed me out and I lost the text. I couldn't be bothered to re-type all that information!

The following info appeared in SIG magazine issue 18, a merchandise guide for Joe 90. It too states there are standard 8 and super 8 versions, however only lists one catalogue number which are the same as on the bigrat site.
Attack and Destroy # 08-816: 50ft.
Secret Mission #08-818: 50ft.
Joe the Pilot #O8-882: 150ft.
b & w, Std./Super 8, silent
Therefore, it would seem logical to conclude that only super 8 versions were released, unless anyone can prove otherwise?
Hope this helps! (probably doesn't lol).

Thanks for that information - I'll keep you up with developments as I have other lines of enquiry I'm pursuing. It'll all wind up in FAB anyway.

According to Dennis Nicholson's Anderson Memorabilia Guide it states the same three above titles and serial numbers. But it does also say that Standard 8 and Super 8 versions of all three were available.

I have a copy of this film - I think in 8 mm. But I am no expert. Anyone who wants it can have it for a fiver to cover postage etc. Email me on merlin72@live.com

Joe The Pilot Standard 8 # 08-881
Secret Mission Standard 8 # 08-817
Attack & Destroy Standard 8 # 08-815
These numbers come from an undated Arrow Films catalogue. I'd guess at 1969.
It can be seen here

Incidentally, the Thunderbirds colour & Black & White Standard and Super 8 Arrow Films were still being produced at this time.
