Just received it today. Enjoying it muchly. That said though, I do wish more of the music from the film was on the CD.

Out of interest, does any of the original recordings survive?

Guys,

Derek has asked me to comment on the original music tracks from Thunderbirds are Go! available in the Barry Gray archive.

There is actually very little to speak of. "Lady Penelope on the move" is a track recorded for the 1960's LP which never appeared, and we have already released that on one of the Silva Screen volumes. Otherwise, we just have an instrumental piece from around the Shooting Star dream sequence, and the end titles from The Royal Marines.

From bootleg sources we can pull a few other tracks together, but I think we would struggle to get beyond around 20 minutes in total.

Thunderbird 6 though, we have the complete soundtrack, and in stereo - unlike the recent American mono release. Just waiting for the right opportunity to release this.

Likewise, Doppelganger!!

Ralph.

It actually comes to over 44 minutes once combined with the EMI LP tracks.

I think I have more tracks than you Ralph. I got a bootleg CD from The Big White Chief which is also combined with TB6.

If memory serves there were actually two Thunderbirds Are Go Soundtracks released, one of which had all the suites, you know the long version of the Zero-X theme everyone knows, the long version of the Thunderbirds March, Lady Penelope on the Move, Tracy Island, all that stuff. And as an extra to that most of the music from The Shadows.

The other soundtrack was really more like a score and actually HAS like 95% of the music that was featured in Thunderbirds Are Go. I think this might have been a bootleg, but I know for a fact all those tracks are somewhere in good quality. However what it misses is the first few tracks of the movie. It misses the very first Zero-X theme right after the opening credits. And actually the very next Zero-X variation after that (the music stops mid Zero-X construction and the continues onwards in the next variation) I have, which isn't in very good condition, but definitely very listenable. After that everything is pretty much in there, apart from the Thunderbirds theme as the Thunderbirds are coming out (the one on this CD and the previously mentioned suites one is a longer and different version).

All in all, added up the whole actual score for 'Thunderbirds Are Go!' only adds up to 27 minutes 18 seconds (I have collected and edited the music according to how it is presented in the film so this can be taken as fact as far as I'm concerned :p). Like is stated somewhere else on this forum, the last half doesn't really have a lot of music. So to be perfectly honest... two tracks missing out of 27:18 is pretty up there in terms of near complete! Granted almost none of this is in stereo as far as I know. With exception to "Shooting Star" and the other themes made by the Shadows for this movie. I don't know if stereo is a must... I'm kind of of the mindset that I'm happy if it's there AT ALL, albeit mono.

But... actual score + the suites from the other CD would equal a very good almost hour of music, so I really think that music-wise there is a definite possibility to get a rather full and almost complete CD out of this. Although, I can understand that there are a lot of rights issues, especially with the themes from the Shadows, but probably also with the suites CD. I don't really know what the behind the scenes stuff is though, I think Ralph is way more in the know than I am.

Sorry for double posting but I remembered something. You say you have the complete soundtrack... Do you also have the short little tune?

Sorry for using youtube, but as that has the wrong aspect ratio it's kind of unwatchable for me anyway, it was just to make clear which short track I was wondering about.

Because I believe the TB6 mono soundtrack had pretty much everything but not that track and it actually had a different one instead. Ones that I also missed on that CD are:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWhAXeQmJuk#t=156 (which I do have a different version of)
and
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWhAXeQmJuk#t=213

Pretty minor, those three, but I haven't been able to find those three tracks yet and I have searched A LOT of bootlegs and legit stuff :o If those three tracks are in there then I believe its a truly complete soundtrack :D
