We must all have a feelings about this "concept"
Is there nothing new in heaven and Earth?...ah well.

Of all Science-Fiction TV series about Unidentified Flying Objects on Earth(a major subject of the 1970s) Gerry Anderson's live-action TV Series "UFO" still is the most impressive with the secret S.H.A.D.O. SUPREME HEADQUARTERS ALIEN DEFENCE ORGANISATION.

Might be good if its done right, unfortunately I will hold out no hope at all, based on previous expectations being dashed.

Im going to be cautiously optomistic, if its good but nothing like UFO then i am happy to treat it like its own entitiy. If it tries too hard and screws up then ill worry. If its a movie made on autopilot i will be dissapointed.

If its done like NCS compared to classic Captain Scarlet for example I would be happy enough, different but essentially the same, however if its done like cough cough the Thunderbirds movie cough cough, then please do not bother and save us all wasting our time and effort.
Unfortunately while wanting the first to be true, I am fully expecting the second to happen, but I can live in hope.

I reckon UFO would be great with a little bit of modernisation. But I agree that if they try too hard to make it appeal to a kid's audience it will fail. UFO was always intended to be an adult show so let's keep it that way. Keep it serious, keep it dark, keep those strong characters but for goodness sake just cos it's sci-fi doesn't mean it's for kids!

I totally agree with your statement.
If only the producers of the new UFO movie, due out in 2011, also would place questions here at FANDERSON FORUM as a conduit to see what we all think. In order to prevent history from repeating itself in what happened with the THUNDERBIRDS 2004 movie.

I posted these images in another thread, but i will post them here anyhow. now we are talking about a UFO feature film. i think this is a really good updating of the SHADO mobile. The pics show an armed version and a SHADO Control version.

I think that the updated Shado Mobile is really good, an updated design but keeping all the original design elements, very cool. :)

I'm really interested what Skydiver, SID and the Interceptors look like. Come to that I'm curious to see everything. I hope the designs are cool at least! The casting will be another interesting one!

Hopefully, they stay close to the original designs.

Love the updated shado mobile.... impressive...most impressive, they have learnt to build planets...hang on wrong show.
Having done a little research relating to the director who has been apointed to visualise one of our favorite shows..EVER!!! It would appear that he has a massive grounding in visual effects especially in regards to miniatures,he designed and built the Betty from Alien 4 as well as other models in the genre...check him out on IMDB. As to the producer,he has a massive track record within the industry with Chinatown and Marathon Man as well as many others beneath his belt. Then there is ITV who are involved. When ITV4 started,if I recall,UFO was the first program to be shown!!![I could be mistaken here] Is there someone/body,high up in that organisation who REALLY likes UFO and Gerry's work in particular?....Sadly that influence was not brought to bear on New captain Scarlet. I don't know..I really want this to work...ALOT!
Gary Sinise as Commander Straker?,Leonardeo Di Caprio as Colonel Foster?....Megan Fox as..well,er...MEGAN FOX !! [LT Johnson...?]
Thoughts?

Not really thought about the casting, but i think Clive Owen would a great Alec Freeman. To be perfectly honest i think UFO would work better as a revamped TV series rather than a feature film.

Just a little problem; why is the last but one axle lifted? like that, it can serve no useful purpose - it doesn't take any of the weight of the vehicle, nor does it drive it - it would appear that it's been designed by someone who doesn't fully understand the concept of 'Form Follows function'

Maybe for assisting in steep inclines?
Or just to look different than existing design.

The front and rear aaxles are raised for that purpose. There is no need, nor any useful function in the second axle being raised

Lets not get too bogged down in real world technicalities. At the end of the day it looks good and functional and thats the object of the exercise.

I have to agree with Silent Bob, as long as it looks good on screen, does it really matter about 'real life' technology and function.
