I know filming started on Stingray in June 1963 but I have never heard when the last episode was shot. I seem to remember reading that it took ten months to film Stingray, which means the last episode would have been filmed in around April 1964. Is this correct, though? I was wondering because I know Thunderbirds would have been in pre-production by Spring 1964.

Those dates are probably pretty much correct - and it's also true to say that pre-production on Thunderbirds would have started while Stingray was still being fiilmed. The writers and designers would be able to start work on the new series while the studio crews were shooting the old one.

Thanks for your reply - sorry about it being late. I think I had heard that generally with the Anderson series, pre-production would have started when the previous show was still being filmed.

I have heard that a publicitity shot was done for TV21 with Stingray on the ocean surface with Thunderbird 2 flying overhead. Am I imagining this?

I've not heard of one like that, but there is a reasonably well-known publicity shot of Stingray on the surface in front of Tracy Island...

I think this must be the photo I am thinking of. Cheers for the correct info.
