It's always nice to discover points where real life and Derek Medding/Mike Trim intersect. I nearly blew cornflakes across the monitor this morning when I spotted pictures of a radio telescope construction project in Chile.

It looks as if taken straight from a Thunderbirds episode. Play the soundtrack of the MSP approaching Allington Bridge in your head while you have a look: http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2009/09/alma-telescope/

The transporter is already located in South America, so all that's needed is an evil looking pot of baked beans for the whole thing to go berserk and take off cross-country terrorising the peasantry.

That is most definitely something straight out of Thunderbirds, :)

Maybe the transporter was taking the telescope to a new site and all they have to do is safely cross the bridge across the ravine, which the tech guy's say can more than easily take the weight of the vehicle. :p

Very close in concept to Mikes Angel interceptor transporter from Captain scarlet.
